About Ms. Baker
I'm a long time science enthusiast with a passion for exercise physiology, nutrition and all things chemistry. Outside of teaching, I love to read and enjoy spending time with my three children currently ages 18, 4 and 2. Now that they are getting older, I am hopeful to get back into and sharing with them the things I enjoy doing such as cross-fit, weight-lifting, running half marathons, long distance mud runs and maybe even a little salsa dancing.

M.A Teaching and Learning-CSU Global 2019
My career began at Job Corps, in an an unplanned career opportunity. I did not originally go to college to be a teacher, much less a science teacher. However, it was at Job Corps that I learned of my passion for education and working with young people. While I love to teach science, the best part of teaching is the role I get to play in other people's lives. It thrills me when my students love science and follows that passion, but I am equally thrilled when I get to interact with students just passing by onto the next phase of their lives. Learning is not just about doing what you are good at, but also in discovering what you aren't good at and figuring out how to be successful anyways. At the end of the day, my teacher heart is the most full when I see students going for their goals and enjoying life's journey along the way.
I believe that learning is life long and that includes both enjoyable experiences as well as challenging ones, both of which help a person to grow and develop. While we would all like learning to be fun and easy, it's just not that simple. Many students find science difficult, especially when they discover that math is a huge part of what we do in class from day to day. I feel so fortunate to be with each and every one of you on this journey as every year I teach science, I get the opportunity to play with science with amazing people and I too get to learn something new. While I am an educator, I am a coach in your learning journey and will push you to be your very best.
